How it works
From the cab to the dashboard, in one driver account
Four steps from sign-up to a clean compliance trail
Use the app for live work in the cab; use the web for the deep compliance review. The same account stitches them together.
- 1
Step 1
Install the Android app and start your shift
Download HGV Time Pilot from Google Play, sign in once with the same email and password you'll use on the web, and start your shift with one-tap mode changes — Driving, Other Work, POA, Break/Rest.
- Live timer with audible heads-up before key EU 561 / WTD limits
- Works largely offline; syncs automatically when you have signal
- Same login on Android and web — no extra account to manage
- 2
Step 2
Download your driver card from the cab
Plug a supported CCID smart-card reader into your Android device with USB-OTG. The app guides you through a five-step read, auto-uploads the data, and grants 14 days of full Pro on your first successful import.
- .DDD / .V1B / .ESM / .TGD files captured straight from the card
- Auto-upload to your account — no email-yourself-the-file ritual
- Card download is Free; deep review unlocks with Pro or the card bonus
- 3
Step 3
Sign in on the web for the full compliance picture
Open the web dashboard for the deep view: drive status, day-by-day review, warnings and infringements, WTD reference periods, walkaround checks, vehicle compliance dates, billing, and Time Pilot AI. Free users get a 14-day preview; Pro unlocks the full suite.
- Plain-English status: OK to drive, approaching a limit, or take a break
- 17- and 26-week WTD reference periods and night-work coverage on Pro
- Walkaround records, vehicle PMI/MOT/tacho/tyre tracker, and downloadable PDF reports
- 4
Step 4
Move between app and web with one account
Chrome Custom Tabs and deep links hand off from the Android app to the web dashboard, reports, and tools. The two surfaces are designed to work together — drive with the app, review with the web.
- Open the web dashboard, reports, or tools from the app menu
- Card data and shift status stay in sync across both surfaces
- One billing relationship — manage subscription in the web app
What HGV Time Pilot is — and isn't
Straight talk so you know exactly what to expect on day one.
It is
- A driver-first toolkit for EU 561 / 165, WTD and AETR awareness on shift.
- A driver-card capture and dashboard companion to your digital tachograph.
- One subscription, two surfaces — same login on Android and the web.
It isn't
- A replacement for the digital tachograph, driver card, or required cab entries.
- A guarantee of compliance — alerts on Android are hints until card data is processed server-side.
- Legal advice — Time Pilot AI is a helper, not your transport manager.
Ready to ditch the spreadsheet?
Install on Android, sign in on the web, keep one tidy compliance trail across both.
