Driver feedback

What drivers say

Voices from the road and the office — drivers, owner-operators, and small fleets.

Finally stopped second-guessing my breaks mid-shift. The timer is clear and the warnings actually make sense.

Sarah M.

Cat CE, linehaul

Card upload to the web dashboard just works. I hand off the file after a shift and can see the week in one place.

James T.

Owner-operator

Plain English instead of wall-of-jargon. I still use the tachograph in the cab — this fills the gaps on my phone.

Alex R.

Agency driver

Night trunking is easier when I can glance at driving vs other work without digging through menus.

Priya K.

Night trunk driver

Good for our small fleet: drivers capture cards on Android, the office reviews from the browser.

Dan W.

Fleet admin

The free tier got me started; Pro was worth it for the deeper compliance views and reports.

Time Pilot AI

Ask in plain English. Get a straight answer.

Time Pilot AI knows your last card download, your current shift, and the rules. Ask it the questions you'd ask a transport manager — without waiting for one to pick up.

  • Knows your data, not just the rules. Answers reflect your actual driving day, not a generic scenario.
  • Cites the regulation it's working from. EU 561, WTD reference periods, AETR — when it matters, it's shown.
  • Limited on Free, unlimited on Pro. Try the free quota first — upgrade only when you actually hit it.

Time Pilot AI is a helper, not legal advice — and it doesn't replace the digital tachograph.

When's my next 45-minute break due?
You've driven 3h 12m since your last full break. You'll hit the 4½h driving limit in about 1h 18m — pull over by 14:42 for a 45-minute break (or 15 + 30 min split, in that order).

Based on your last card download · EU 561 / 4½h rule

Can I still drive home tonight?
Today is one of your two extended-driving days this week, so you have up to 10 hours of driving available. You've used 6h 47m. That leaves 3h 13m — comfortably enough for a 90-minute run home, assuming an 11h daily rest after.

EU 561 daily driving · WTD reference period 17 of 26

Our data promise

Built around your privacy, not yours-to-monetise

FAQ

Common questions about HGV Time Pilot

Quick answers about the Android timer, driver-card workflows, and the web dashboard. Tap a question to read the answer.

Android app

  • Does the Android app replace my tachograph?

No. The digital tachograph and driver card remain authoritative. HGV Time Pilot is a supplementary working-time and compliance tool that runs alongside the equipment in the cab, not instead of it.

  • Will the shift timer keep running if I switch apps?

Yes. The timer is designed to keep tracking in the background using a persistent foreground notification. On some Android devices you may need to allow background activity or disable battery optimisation for HGV Time Pilot so the OS does not pause it.

  • Can I download my driver card on the phone?

Yes. Driver-card download via USB OTG is part of the Android workflow on supported devices. Captured .DDD files can then be handed off to the web dashboard for review and reporting.

  • Which Android versions are supported?

Minimum OS and device requirements are listed on the Google Play store page and may change between updates. Most recent Android phones and tablets are supported.

  • How do alerts work compared to the official tachograph?

In-app alerts are best-effort, plain-English hints for the current shift — for example continuous driving and break-due notifications. They are not authoritative. Final compliance still follows the digital tachograph and server-side card processing.

Web dashboard

  • Do I use the same login as the Android app?

Yes. One account works for both the Android app and the web dashboard, so your shifts, uploads and settings stay under the same identity across devices.

  • What can I do on the web for free vs Pro?

Free gives you the core orientation: a status overview and basic compliance view. Pro unlocks the full suite — timelines, day review, warnings and infringements, downloadable reports, deeper rest and WTD analysis, and unlimited Time Pilot AI. See the Pricing page for the current breakdown.

  • How do I upload a .DDD file?

After a card read on Android, the .DDD file can be handed off to the web dashboard. The dashboard parses it into a timeline used across compliance views, reports, and the AI assistant. Step-by-step guidance is shown in-product.

  • Can fleets manage multiple drivers here?

Fleet workflows are evolving. Today the focus is on individual drivers and small operators with one login per driver. For multi-driver setups or fleet pricing, contact support so we can match your needs.

  • Is my data stored in the UK or EU?

Yes. Hosting and data handling are described in the Privacy Policy. Card and shift data is used to run the service and is not sold to advertisers; account deletion is available from the footer link and in-product where offered.

Regulations & credibility

Built around 561/2006, WTD, AETR — in plain language

HGV Time Pilot follows EU Regulation 561/2006 (drivers' hours), the UK Working Time Regulations 2005 (road transport / WTD aspects), AETR where relevant, and DVSA-style framing for walkaround checks. The app helps you understand the day; the digital tachograph remains authoritative.

Same login on Android and the web. Card data flows from the cab to your dashboard so the picture stays consistent.
